Removing running boards.... (1 Viewer)

Don't expect sliders to protect from mud slop up onto your doors guys. Little trip I took following NorcalDoug on the Pozo run, he with sliders, me with OEM running boards. Both white trucks. Saloon inspection - his truck, cool mud slop all over side of truck; my truck clean as a whistle relative to his, bottom of running boards, caked in slop. Interestingly, front of his truck was awash in mud with his ARB front while my stock bumper kept front hood again relatively clean by comparison. Just an observation on my part for those of you that love mud!

Thanks for the imput! I ordered the flaps from my new best friend Cruiser Dan.
The Toyota dealers around me told me the part didn't exist, in fact they told me the whole running board didn't exist, but I knew they were out there somewhere. Those were interesting shots of what got by the flaps on Ty's car, a small price to pay for regaining some manhood removing those boards. I find myself down some pretty long and messy logging roads on the way to the stream but generally nothing so bad that I'll need sliders. I'll have to keep an eye out for chipped paint.

Thanks again,
E

Ummm .. *fighting back the tears .. * , I don't know where 'you're' from .. *sniffle* , but 'here' we DON'T refer to our manly 80's as CARS !!! :flipoff2:

I say take the flaps off. They are just a pain in the rear end and look cooler without them. They will probably break off eventually anyway if you do any heavy offroadin. Oh and tyler did you regear?

Having a hard time reading your sig, and I just passed a military flight physical.............
Not that I am a pilot or anything, but they just wanted to be sure I could see
A little bigger FONT would be helpful :flipoff2:

Oh i see Tyler thanks. But defenitly don't get the iroks. I know some people who got them and hated them. Go with the 36 TSL radials. They will work on your stock wheel and there is a guy in this forum that was selling some off his 80 and look bad ass and classic. Oh and they are amazing offroad. Crusin GA can vouch!

This pic clearly reveals the affected areas . This was taken after driving approx. 10 miles post wash .

This picture is a puzzle to me. Back when I had a 4" lift I had to do a little travel through some rivers and mud. I had a mess of the road on my LC80 reaching even into the cab because I'm a smoker and often drive with the window open.

This pic looks like you didn't even leave the road and honestly, even on the road I get stuff reaching up my doors towards the window. I've even begun thinking of extended flares for my extended flares.

80's definately look a little sweeter without the running boards . Mudflaps finish it all off nicely . Mine are full size , and have not been trimmed down .

TYLER YOU AIN'
T GOT NOTHING ON MY MUDD FLAPS!
