Thats more like it.... 'cept for those aweful decals.

I'd love to loose the stickers on the wing. Unfortunately they have fused to the plastic. I can't even get a edge to come up.

By the way why did you leave the "eye lid" of the rear mud flap? I was looking at mine today and was thinking I would cut them right to the nubs... just leave a "plate" to hold the rear bumper cover on.

This looks more OEM with the stock bumper. I don't like the way it looks with no mud flap. Don't know how to describe but it just makes something look broken and incomplete. I also figured that little bit left could be the difference in someone's windshield.

Question, behind the main toyota emblem that is on the rear hatch next to the wiper, are there holes in the body? In other words, I can take some fishing line, zip that emblem off and no holes left behind?

They have alignment holes. You can remove it, but you will haz holez

Ditto. I was planning on removing the flap from the OEM bumper all together but after more thought came to the same decision.

Wh am I posting this picture? Gunmetal gray emblem on a blacked out grill looks excellent. I had black o black but it looked like my grill fell out late at night. I guess it's time for bed and less beer. Who knows

Paul, here's my alternative to the Black Pearl kit, just used PlastiDip and it's held up great for several months.

I did about 4-5 coats in case I wanted to peel and reapply.

That looks really good. Did you just PlastiDip the outward facing part of the emblems? I would think that with how thick that stuff is, it would be very difficult to put the emblems back on.

How about a quick how-to?

Ok, how about removing the emblem on the front grill? Is it attached with double sided tape as well???

Nope, just 2 screws if I remember correctly.

I took my grill off last weekend and didn't see any screws behind the emblem. There looked to be a couple plastic nipples coming through the grill but no screws.

Seems to be lots of confusion being thrown around between the older LC owners knowing about their truck and not the differences with the newer LCs.

On my 2000LX & 2005LX, the front emblems are mounted differently. The older one has screws, while the newer one is double sided adhesive tape.

If I recall correctly from reading on here in past threads, the 03-07 Land Cruisers rear LAND CRUISER emblem has alignment nips that require breaking off when people put them on their 98-02s. I know the L on the back of BOTH of my LXs has alignment holes, and as Nick said, the T on the back of the older LC is as well.

I just did the surface not the underside. I wanted to lay it on thick for easy peeling if needed.

You can find my short how-to here along w a few more pics. https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/475171-mods-under-50-a-4.html

Holz for the sombero

I have posted this in another thread, but for 2000 year, here are the holes when removing the one emblem, no other emblem has holes.

While on topic. I seem to remember some talk about a year ago that the smoked OEM emblem sets from Toyota are discontinued and no longer available? I kind of want a set now....of course!

What colors do you have going on with your truck?

The side mouldings look graphite in color (mine are a silver/champagne) on my Champagne Pearl (1B1) truck. Looks like you painted your rear air vents as well.

I have a few. Side molding, rear bump, front emblem and Toyota emblem on wheels are a dark gunmetal. The rims, front bump, and a few others are black. It looks good in person.

Read that but how did you get the coating on? Did you lay the emblems out on waxed paper, apply 5 thin coats with a fine paint brush, then trim the over run with a razor? Did you hold them with tweezers and dunk them 5 times in a shallow pool of PD?...that sort of thing. The minute you tell me and I understand, I am headed for the garage!
