I am digging into taking the head off of my 3FE and I cant seem to get the intake manifold off. I have taken the nuts and bolts off that are at the base of the intake manifold. Im trying to remove the head with as little of the stuff coming off as possible. I have a FSM on its way but I am taking my time, taking lots of pictures and labeling hoses etc. Does anyone recall if there is a trick to getting the intake off? Pics below of my progress
Thanks,
Paul

Their is a support arm underneath as well as 2 smaller ones on each side that help support the intake.

You can just see the smaller one in this pic, one at each end.

Not much else holding it on if I recall once you have undone all the manifold bolts apart from all those Vacuum hoses and EGR stuff  Not like this one not a vacuum hose in sight :D

thanks Matt,
i will give it a look tomorrow. I cant help from being a bit envious of the lack of vacuum and smog stuff in those pictures.
Thanks,
Paul

No EGR either

On the 3FE there are two metal braces, one in front and one in back. Also remember to remove the cold start injector fuel line from the fuel rail. EGR tube needs to be disconnnected as well. Good luck.

Edit... coolant lines to the throttle body need to be disconnected too.

I got the metal braces but not the other stuff. will the cold start injector fuel line have gas pouring out of it or is it just like the other bolts that come off. I am pretty sure that i know which one it is so I will remove that and the EGR tube and give it a shot. Im at work until tomorrow morning so I will get to it then.
Thanks again,
Paul

The fuel line is a banjo bolt with a copper washer, make sure you just screw them back into the fuel rail once the pipe is removed, saves losing them.

Small amount of fuel will leak, what's in the pipe from the fuel rail so no smoking :D
