The bolt that is in the front of the differential for filling with fluid is in very tight. The head of the bolt only sits proud about 3/16 and not able to get the socket on there to stay in place. Has anyone had similar issue and looking for the best way to get it unseated and remove so that I can replace it and the gasket. The drain plug gasket has a slow leak and need to replace that and fill.

Photo shows the bolt condition the best I could photograph.

Thanks

You could take a 6pt socket and then grind the leading edge (where the bevel is). That will give you full socket to bolt engagement. Worse case if it still rounds off, weld on a nut of your choice and use that - the heat will help break the bolt loose too.

Toyota and their silly drain/fill plugs. Whenever I do mine I compare to my old patrol that uses 1/2" drive 'holes' in the drain/fill plugs - much nicer :)

cheers,
george.
