I've got a loose right rear flare that upon closer inspection looks to have been repaired inside. The fasteners are different from my 93's which I've had off.

Could someone lead me to a diagram or email me the page from the FSM that shows each fastener on the rear flares? My FSM for the 93 shows all of them on one page and how each comes off - hopefully Toyota did that on the newer flare design.

Also, anyone know of or have a RR flare they'd like to part with?

Thanks,

DougM

Doug,

When I removed the rear flares on my '95, the metal piece that anchors the mud flap was totally rusted and the inner portion was broken because someone tried to pull it off without first removing the nuts inside. I had to bite the bullet and buy brand new. I hate bad PO's.

Doug,

You will find that the plastic flares on your 97 are designed to pop off easier than the fiberglass flares on your 93. I suppose this change was for less damage in minor flare-benders. The good news is that you can repair the flimsy break-away tabs on the inside of the flare with JB Weld or a good plastic epoxy.

I don't have a scanner at home but I'll try to scan those pages for you tomorrow if nobody else posts those pages from the FSM. PM Raven; he has the complete manual electronically but his is an LX and the flares might be a little different.

A tree works really well! Sorry :D :o

Almost did that yesterday. I was actually surprised that the PS rear fiberglass flare on my 94 flexed and did not break when I pinned it against a tree. Made me wonder if it really was fiberglass.

The LX rear flares (on that section) are the same as the LC, as I recall.
