Remove the ‘93 dash (11 Viewers)

Is there a good thread on how to pull out the dash on a ‘93 ? Just looking it over while driving tonight, and it looks a lot more involved than the +95 model years. Seemed like those were just a couple screws. The ‘93 looked like one piece side to side ? I just need to pull the front off to install a CDL switch, pull out the aftermarket radio that’s not working, maybe change out the heater control assembly.

Did a search, and nothing useful came up.

You will need to remove about 4 or 5 screws then gently pull until you overcome the spring loaded “push/pull retainers” so they pop out of there holes. There are six of these. Removing the clam shell from the column may facilitate panel removal and removing the steering wheel makes clam shell removal much easier.

You will be able to pull the panel out an inch or two at this point before it becomes necessary to disconnecting the various switches and such from the wire harness.

This would be a good time to install a power outlet and/or USB port in the cig lighter location or the rectangular knockout to the left of it. Once you are this far you might as well install a ship set of new dash light bulbs and replace that broken air vent.

Wow, amazingly more complex that the ‘95-97.

Where are the 6 screws ? I assume 1-2 in the ashtray. Seemed a saw one of the vents had a screw

Yes two in the ash tray slot and maybe three more you can find pretty easily. If you want I can post some pics later this afternoon as the dash panels are presently removed from my 93 right now.

This might help I used it to find all of the screws and bolts when I removed mine.

Pulling the early dash is easy, i have done it maybe +/- 10 times the past yr. remove the lower dash by starting at the ash tray, then work your way up to the CDL switch. You can't miss the screws location or screw up really.
