Guys,

Despite my searching, I'm looking for a relatively remote 4x4 access only camping spot. I've been up on meadow knob outside Harrisonburg and it'd be decent, but it's been awhile.

Anyone have any suggestions for places with mild wheeling and decent camping?

Shoe creek. Ive only been once, but it was fun and had primitive camping spots.

I was about to suggest the same thing.

I've heard of people camping along Big Levels as well.

Be careful with Flagpole, it may not be legal to take your truck up there anymore. Meadow knob should be OK since the trail runs right through it.

Check with the Lee Ranger District Office, but I recall reading on the USFS web page that camping is allowed throughout the GWNF.

There are more trails than just Waggy's Creek and the others that go over Flagpole Knob or around Switzer Lake; we were going to do some of those into WV earlier this June, but time got away from us (dang work and family responsibilities!!!)
