Hey y’all, I searched and searched and just can’t find the amount of R134a needed for my ac system. My Troopy has a 1HZ motor with the factory front ac only.

Thanks in advance for any info.
Rob

I have searched thru the Factory Owners and Service manuals, but didn't see a reference.
When the system is charged; the technician will need to charge to sub cooling/super heat or until the air temperature is below 50*.
I can't imagine the system holding more than 16-18 oz.

Hello,

From the FSM:
  1. Single A/C compressor: 900 ± 50 g ( 31.74 ± 1.76 oz)
  2. Dual A/C compressor: 1600 ± 50 g ( 56.43 ± 1.76 oz)
Hope this helps.

Juan,

The last time I was in the Philippines and drove my PZJ75 truck; the AC system needed attention and I wasn't sure how much refrigerant needed to be weighed in. Thanks for the information above and making me take a closer look at the manual.

I searched thru the RM-183e service manual again.
In the Air Conditioning System section I found the same capacities you posted on page AC-36 at the bottom; 32 oz's of refrigerant.

Hello,

I am glad I could help.

That manual is worth every penny.

@JuanJ I believe this 900g spec is referencing R12. Toyota used R12 until early 1993.

The converted R134a capacity would be 700g.

If I'm wrong on this, please let me know. I've been wrong many times before.

Hello,

In fact, it refers to R12.

Thank you for pointing out this detail.
