Are you guys freakin' serious???

My neck's about as red as it gets, and I'd use the ratchet strap trick, or take it by a shop....:steer:

Beats the hellloutta the burn center...:hillbilly:

yes, serious - that's actually how the tire shop did mine!

hahah anyone from alberta that works in the bush knows that its all about the tiger torch/propane. Flame me if you will (pun intended) , but you guys think its dangerous doing this on a small auto tire? try spending winers working with skidders in logging camps......a great distance away from any kal tire. In those when running on soft or snow covered ground you run the fine line of lowest air pressure possible for work being done so you can stay on top and not sink into the terrain. this results in a de-beaded tire once in a while on the older machines before they mandated beadlocks. Re-seating the bead on a 60+ inch tire is very intimidating the first couple times. This IS a way of life in the bush, be it dangerous know. I have only come across a select few that have suffered major injury and heard of a death or 2, but on the other hand haw many people at shops have been killed or mamed by split rims under a controlled environment? Life is a risk, safety and success is all in how you manage it.

Serch: setting bead with ether On google or u-tube tons of video. Very dangerious, only do as last resort.

Hells gate is way less dangerous, so is driving down the local freeway. Inflating your tire with flamable gas, you must be insane. Its how you do it that counts

I don't ever recommend doing this you can get hurt or killed.

If you are going to do it you should have someone who's done it before show you the trick in person.

But if you are going to do it (which I don't recommend) lay the wheel and tire on a 5 gallon bucket and push the tire down to try to start setting the inside bead as much as possible. Then remove the valve stem, have a compressor hooked up ready to go, use a blast of starting fluid in the tire with some going up the sidewall, stand back and throw a lit match onto the sidewall to light it. Remember- it's better to use too little starting fluid and have to wait a few minutes before you try again than to use too much and blow the tire off the rim. As soon as the explosion has happened quickly turn on the compressor or else the tire can be sucked off the bead as the air inside cools.

We use this trick at the sand dunes to mount 15" wide paddle tires onto 16" wide wheels.

Hey guys sky diving is dangerous but if you are shown how then it's a piece of cake. Your mum showed you how to cross the road right, how many people do you know that have been run over...........exactly.

It's not what you do.....it's how you do it!

regards

Dave

FYI, I did it!! Safe and sound.. All by myself!! Got 4 tires done in no time!! Thanks for all the tips, but I think as long as you do things safely, and your not showing off it can be done... guys do this all the time on the trails etc, it's just about not being an idiot about it!!

Thanks again,

My new post with regards to this is here!!
