Red tailgate light with 2 light level - problem

Hey guys,
I installed my new reversing LEDs yesterday, and during the testing noticed that the red lights in the tailgate (below the reversing lights) appear to have two different light levels.

Sometimes they are both on brightly, but other times only the right side comes on at a lower brightness level - the left light never comes on at the reduced light level.

Are these bulbs supposed to operate at two different brightnesses, or is that a sign of a problem?

Thanks, I'll go ahead and get a new bulb.

Check your bulb again in a few weeks... i had one of the filaments (on a dual filament bulb) go out, it also took out my running lights. I replaced it and a few weeks later, same issue. I tracked a short down in the trailer wire harness aftermarket converter. I replaced it again, so far so good.

Anyone replaced the halogen bulbs with LED bulbs?

What halogens? The headlights?
