The red cone gates may be locked, if they are, I suggest you print off directions to twin cone. We went up there one year in the snow and had a blast.

Yeah, when we got there, Greg noticed a sign that said Red Cone and Webster were closed, but we decided to see for ourselves. Glad we did, the gate was open and we ran into some FS guys and they said "Go for it!". So we did. :grinpimp:

I was up at my in-laws, so I took Boreas Pass over in the morning to meet Greg in Como. It was 23 degrees and absolutely beautiful out.

I had always heard about going down Red Cone, but honestly, I was impressed by the trail that takes you up to Red Cone. It was tough, bumpy, rutty, rocky and had several downed trees. I earned my first real dent on it.

Once we got to Montezuma, we decided to head to Keystone (a short 5 miles away) and grab some lunch. We got some pizza from a hippie chick at Pizza101. Tasty pizza and crunchy jams! Check it out if you're in the area.

We then attempted Saints John, but shortly after we passed the Wild Irishmen Mine, we ran into too much snow on too steep a grade.

But the scenery back down made the half trip worth it!
