I have an Odessey 34/78 PC1500 battery that I've inherited.
It "charges" fine (offline mains Halfords battery charger) and stabilizes at 12.75v

However putting a load (or testing via battery tester) on it ; it indicates a Weak battery and 11.3v

Is there an old-style mechanism of how to recover these (slow charging?)
Looked a few videos online but can't see how I'd open up the top to check if fluid is low (to top up)

Thanks

Brendan

I believe the Odessey batts are AGM ( gel ) so no fluid to top up. My charger has a recondition setting that will rehab a batt that has drained completely. I have had luck charging with 2 amps for like 3 days, If you trickle charge it up to voltage then let it float for a day then load test, if its gone bad you'll see it in the load test results.

unfortunately, my own experience and much of what I've seen online is that once a lead acid battery is bad, it's usually not salvageable in the long run. I could be convinced that one could see some temporary improvement but probably not go from bad to good again altogether. Maybe there could be some situations where an intervention makes a difference, but I doubt that it's the majority of the cases.
I have had batteries that show high voltage but no energy storage. I put them on various regimens but nothing doing. Wasted hours doing tests and trials.
Anyway, it's probably worth trying the usual zapping, floating etc approaches if you would enjoy that or are in a bind, but I would not hold my breath TBH.
(FWIW, I am much more willing to believe that regular spike desulfating maintenance makes a difference, but even there I don't think desulfating is a miracle cure.)

For what it's worth - I have kept a copy of the PDF on my laptop for a while now.

Whether it will help, no idea. Can't hurt to try.

cheers,
george.
