I've rebuilt the 3B that's in the FJ55 using the Geoff Walsh kit. The piston box clearly says "Not for Turbocharged Engines". Obviously these pistons are made for the 3B which was not turbocharged from the factory and naturally the pistons are different from the 13B-T.

My question is, are the Geoff Walsh pistons weaker, or less suitable to turbo use than the stock 3B pistons ????

I've got a line on a used AXT turbo that I'd like to put on the '55 but I don't want to trash a freshly rebuilt engine by doing that.

I run the AXT turbo on my '82 up to a maximum of 1200F pre turbo and 8-9 psi maximum boost. The '55 would be set up in a similar fashion with the possible addition of an intercooler.

What's the opinion of the board?

We did a 2H that said the same thing and we used a higher quality kit, I would think that it should not be a problem.

Running that type of boost is tolerable for most engines and it should hold up well.

I am ordering up 3 turbos from Oz next week, one will be mounted on my truck and the others are already sold. These turbos will not boost more than 10 PSI and are oil only, I hope to have the results of the performance within the next couple of months.

Good luck with your 3B.........
