Rebuild fuel injectors

Hi everybody,

I just had my Fuel Injectors rebuild, and it is time to install them. Is it recommended to do any cleaning on the injector hole on cylinder head? I looked with the flashlight and it looks like there is some carbon build up on the edges. I am not sure as I dont want any foreign material falling in. This is for 1991 Landcruiser TD RH drive.

It should clean itself with the new injectors. The carbon build up is usually soft and it will break up and exit through the exhaust valve in time.

I just did this on my truck and I used a vac with a small tube to get the little pile of carbon out around the sealing surface for the injector.

Sorry I wasn't replaying before, I was working in te middle of nowhere for the last 2 weeks.

Thank you for your replies. I got my injectors rebuild by Fred in Vancouver. He suggested to me to use metal brush and clean the holes from the build up, then disconnect Fuel Pump and start the car, so it turns few times to get build up carbon out of the cylinders. I was just wandering if anybody ever tried that as I wasn't comfortable doing it.

i did the same thing....just use a brass brush to clean the buildup and look to see if any of the copper o rings is still in there (1HDt) ...you have to remove it and install new (or like i did, just sand them lightly)...then give it a quick air blow....disconnect pump solenoid and crank her up a few seconds....

I would rather recommend Jon Fox @yotahead to do them... Mine work like a charm!
