I had to remove the rear window on the tailgate to repair some rust and am curious as to how important the chrome inserts for the gasket are. They got pretty messed up when I removed the window and I don't feel like spending a bunch of money to get new ones.

Any thoughts?

The chrome inserts hold the gasket against the glass. If you don't mind a black insert, a good auto glass shop can find a close match with one from an American truck (old Dodge comes to mind).

Call around. If you get stuck, I'll find the right one for you. Might just start a new custom trend (besides removing the rain gutter trim).
