Gonna need Sooooo much more info. What kind of carrier, how does it mount, etc. The only way you will get a quick and easy yes is if it is a receiver hitch mounted carrier.

Welcome to the world of 80s!

thanks for the welcome this what the carrier looks like its from opposite lock here in aus

Anything's possible with some fabricating, but that unit won't be an easy bolt on. Going to need some structure in the outer bumper end for that to bolt on.

Good Luck, and enjoy your new 80!

That looks like an Opposite Lock wheel carrier. I have just fitted a RHS mounting one to my 80 and sorting out the gas strut bracketing as my one has the strut mount on the swivelling carrier section just outside the square bearing post on the lower arm tube.

And as a result my carrier won't be able to open out all the way to the limit of it's rotation with the strut connected to a bracket I'll custom-attach to the main part of the carrier that bolts to the chassis.

My 80 is a barn door version too so taking into account how much I need to be able to open out the RHS barn door is also something I'm factoring in.

Here's the carrier with the wheel mounted and sitting 'free' (no gas strut fitted):

Once I decided where to bolt my custom bracket for the fixed end pivot of the strut it'll all be done apart from maybe fitting a 'slave' tail light assembly, and/or some additional brackets for a work/reverse light.

Craig.

It's now completed and because the gas strut tabs on my carrier are different (even though it's a genuine Opposite Lock carrier) to the current standard, I made my own bracket setup:

Note that I hadn't finished securing the swivel pins with the split pins when I took the pic.

The strut holds the carrier will out of the way of the right side (bigger) barn door, and it also acts to partly hold the carrier against the yellow bush when in the closed position so aiding the over-centre latch.

Strut is apparently a 'standard' type used for most Kaymar and Opposite Lock wheel carriers and when extended has a 214 mm hole-to-hole distance in the eye bushes. The one that Outback Accessories (OEM manufacturer of the Opposite Lock carriers) sent me along with the special mounting bracket to mount the carrier itself to the chassis of my 80 is generic with no branding or markings.
