Anyone have rear spring perches and gussets to fit a 78 frame? I believe they were the same until 80/81. Curious what's out there before I cut up a rolling chassis or pull out the CC. I know BTB and Cruiser Solutions sells them but I'm struggling to pull the trigger on $300 shipped when I have so many other needs.

how good do they need to be

Spring perches that go on the axle housing?

@shelfboy1 usable condition. I'm refinishing the frame so they don't need be bolt-on ready but useable condition. Send me a pic and I'll see fi I can work with what yuo have.

@65swb45 sorry, I have axle mount perches on my mind too. I'm looking for the rear frame plate gusset and leaf hanger that mounts to it.

Thanks

I have a pair of those attached to a rear crossmember I’ve been trying to sell for a while. All rust free.

But FWIW, I bought a pair of the repro brackets from cruiser solutions to repair a customer’s rig about a decade ago, and if I needed some now I d pull the trigger on another pair of those. No other experience with the company, but that product was first rate.

Thanks Mark. I think I saw pics of that rear frame section you are selling recently. I wish I wasn't on other side of the country. I think shipping would probably kill that option. The cruiser solutions option is definitely cheaper to ship as they are relatively local. I appreciate your input.

😉

I think you helped me out with a transfer case when I did my first H55 swap.

Man, I wish I had any kind of street cred like that! Would love to say that was me. Unfortunately, you will be more help to me than I will to you. I'm just starting to get my feet wet in the tear down and rebuild of my cruisers.

im working on it my sister died and we have a million things to take care of .i will get a photo soon

I am so sorry to hear about your sister. That’s much more important

I used those BTB parts to replace mine on my '76 a couple years ago. Worked out great, bolted them in with grade 8 hardware. I also drilled another hole in the shackle hangar mount which allowed me to easily move it 1" forward and gave a much better shackle angle with my rear shackles. My stock stuff was obviously very deteriorated but the BTB parts seemed very well made. I would buy them again without concern.

This is an EXCELLENT POINT. Having gone through the effort to move the hangers on my trail 40 forward to improve shackle angle/suspension droop, there is NO BETTER TIME to do this than when you’re installing new gussets. Good on you @snaggletto for bringing it up!

Sounds like something else I need to learn about and consider. Thanks for the input guys!
