Hey guys,

I'm needing some thoughts/opinions on the rear shock setup on my FJ40 build. I've got flipped stock FJ62 rear springs. I know that's a pretty popular setup for the rear of a 40. Does anyone have any pics of what they have done (location, shock length, etc)?

I moved my axle back 11" so I don't think I'll be able to use the stock shock crossmember. And I really don't want to cut into the tub because I plan on having rear passengers.

Hi All:

Are you SUA or SOA?

If SUA, consider using OME N89 shocks for the rear.

I am currently running the OME N75E shock while SUA under the rear of my 40 Series with flipped rear OME 60 Series rear spring.. This is longer shock than the N89, which may be too much for this application! :D

Regards,

Alan

Last two posts show the crossmember I built. I have flipped 60 springs in the rear just like you. The shocks are 10's. I have some 12" bilsteins mounted up right now (drilled some more holes inboard of one shown) and for as much as I drive it on the road, I am going back to 10's to decrease the body roll.

Thanks. I like that setup.

I'm SOA. Guess I should have stated that.

Thats a nice idea on the crossmember. The only thing I would maybe do different, that really works on mine, is move the upper mounts in further. You can run a longer shock and get more extension/compression for wheel travel. just a thought.
