Has anyone pulled the rear seats from their 200? When we tried to do this the SRS warning light came on so I am now trying to find out if the SRS config can be reprogrammed through Toyota's TIS Techstream. I have been told by Toyota Gibralter (the guys that sell the internal roll cages) that they often pull the rear seats without any SRS light. However, their models do not have the same SRS config - less airbags in the rear and no curtain. Therefore, I am guessing that the config is programmable because it would be silly to have a completely different module in different models. Looking at the wiring diagram in the workshop manuals it certainly looks like it should be under software control.

Additionally, does anyone know if the airbags are disabled when the seats are folded up? I haven't figured that out yet from the workshop manual. If they are it would support the case for being configurable.

Obviously, we will be asking Toyota shortly but if anyone has already been through this process it might be helpful.

Thanks
Steve

Several guys in Oz have removed them and don't remember anyone having issues. I have a Sahara diesel and am pulling the rear seats out in the next two or three days. One thing are/have you removed the seat belts? If so that may be your problem but i'm only guessing on that score. You could do a search on the LCOOL forum. Thanks Jeff, does yours have airbags in the actual rear seats? (by the shoulder) I know the US models have more bags than the European ones which might to be the issue.
Thanks for the link - I'll check that out as well.

People in the US have removed their rear seats without issue, I believe. There should be some other threads on this subject...

Steve, Sorry to take so long getting back to you and no mine does not have air bags in the third row seats only curtain. Pulled them out last week and no issues. The Sahara is our top spec cruiser over here and it has 10 airbags with bags in the front and second row seats only.
Cheers

could there be sensors in the rear seats to detect weight? I know in modern cars if nobody is sitting in the seat the airbag won't deploy.

I'm not familiar with the 200, but if it has 2nd row side airbags this may be the cause. Were there any wires or sensors in the floor?

Steve,

I have had my third row seats out for a while now (AT drawer system) with no problems. The guys at IPOR did mine, you might want to give them a call if you are having issues.

there is no wiring in the third row US LC200.

3rd row????

I was not talking about the 3rd row!! Those were taken out virtually the day I bought the truck!

I am talking about the 2nd row, i,e the rear passenger seats as defined in the workshop manual. I want to move my refrigerator to the floor.

I should point out that my truck is not a daily driver or used for anything other than long distance overland trips in case anyone is wondering why I might want to do this.

I'll let you all know the solution when I have it!

Oh wow. I don't think anyone has EVER removed the middle row.

People that need that much space I think just opt for a tundra with a camper shell...why have side doors then?

I don't think you are going to be able to remove that row without airbag warnings. My best advice to you would be to talk to someone at the dealership who can connect the programmer and tell you what options are available. Due to liability, however they may not touch something like that.

Good luck!

You may have a couple options. One would be to install a switch to turn the air bag off. With the appropriate information you may be able to turn them off without the light coming on. There is some information here... although I can't verify how legit it is.

The other option, which I would probably try, is an airbag simulator. Stick it in place of the airbag that you removed from the circuit and you're done. I found some in a quick search here.

Looking forward to the final solution.

Invisible, did you ever get the air bag issue worked out?

I removed the second row from my LC120, left in the third row. Cuts a lot of weight, removing the second row. Nice in the desert.

I'm thinking of getting an LC200 to replace the 120. Cutting out the ~150lbs of the second row would let me take a second spare very comfortably.

Invisible,
Did you even get this worked out? I'm having the same issue after removing the 2nd and 3rd row of my US spec 2016 200.
I'm installing a full length drawer system and the srs light is killing me. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Given that this is a 6 year old thread you may not get an answer from him. I removed the 3rd row from my 2016 LC. No issues. No wires. I expect the problem is with the 2nd row. I haven't heard of people removing the 2nd row.

The problem is indeed with the 3rd row and I think I found the solution. I'll post mode when I know for sure.

3rd row in LC causes no issues. Only difference with LX is power raising/lowering, right? I wouldn't think airbag setup would change.

You're absolutely right, I mistyped. 2nd row is the issue. Both the 60 and the 40 have built in side impact bags. To eliminate the fault code I must put a 2.2ohm resistor in line.
Parts have been ordered, I'll circle back when the mod is complete.

very interested in this ....... hoping to have mine out of the truck most of the time as well.....

PDXLX,
I'm trying to remove my rear seats as well. How did you determine that the resistor is 2.2 ohm? What parts/ kit did you order?

any update ?
