I have done a search on here and found all the info for the install but I was wondering where I can get the retractable rear seatbelts themselves.

I know you can get the non retractable from various sources but with the need to mount a kids booster seat and the warnings of using a non-retractable rear seat belt I am wondering where to get these belts. I think they were used in the 62 series but am unsure.

There are a bunch of posts on the 60 forum on this topic. Be careful on two points in particular:
1. Some, but not all, 60 series have a threaded hole in the b-pillar for the shoulder belt. Most, maybe all, have the hole. Hole, with thread makes for an easier install. Hole w/out threads makes it tougher - doable, but tougher.
2. Body was changed sometime in 88/89 to fit the retractable shoulder belt. Mods can be done to the earlier style to fit the retracter, but it's not bolt-in.

All the parts are available. CDan of course is the best choice, but SOR and Dealer are obvious too.

HTH.

Yes FJ62 parts may work. See the seatbelt area on Spector offroad. It describes the hole.

the hj61 is a bit different in the bottom area.

it might take some welding and cutting out.

you could just add the nonretractable style shoulder harness from SOR

Burger, I just finished posting on another thread for shoulder belts. I did this "conversion" on my Venezuelan-spec FJ62, which came with NO seatbelts in the back seat. Mine had the threaded hole, so I retrofitted the US-spec FJ62 retractable ones. Minor mods to the rear cargo side covers was needed, but it was very straightforward. I'll take pics this afternoon and post them.

Like brownbear said, the seatbelt mounts are different between the 61 and the 60s and 62s. Most people answering your question, won't understand this. Check before you buy anything. I'm still using the existing seatbelts with carseats. At least we got friction seatbelts instead of the retractable ones.

Cheers for the info guys. I did not know the 61 were different again. I have no problem making the plates and such like bb is doing/did. I could just put in the non-retractable type but the booster seats all say non-retractable is no good so I would like to stay away from that.(my kids are toooooo important).

Brown bear I noticed on the link you provided you had part numbers for a 62 style. Is that the retractable style and if so that is the retractable shoulder and lap belts? My 61 only came with non-retractable lap belts.

If you go to fj62 style belts, then you will have to use one half of your non retractable belts.

The part numbers are on the SOR site for the 62 belts. I would try that at Toyota before ordering from SOR. I am not sure where you are, but getting anything from SOR into Canada is a bad thing. Shipping kills every deal possible. The would have to be free to worth it. Or a unique part that you cannot easy get in Canada.

That's right !
Two of my friends drive HJ60 ('84) with retractable belt.
my 61 ('87, round headlifht) don't have! Someone gave me some used retractable belt but I can't put it without cut and drill the body.:frown:

As a follow up, I have emailed and spoken with Ciaran Wilson. He is to look into his own HJ61 and see what he thinks and will get back to me.

My BJ60 had a retractable belt from the factory. But it was lapbelt retractable only.

Did your friends 84 Hj60 have a shoulder or Lap Oursavage?
