Interesting project nakman! Which seat heater did you end up buying? Any pics of how it was installed and secured under the leather?

Seat heaters for the kids because they are use to them when occasionally riding in the front!

Ok, but they are walking 5 miles to school in sub freezing temps to make up for this occasional comfort?

I didn't take any pictures of the install.. I guess I'm still used to 80land where this install has been pretty beat to death, sorry. But it's not that bad once you get into it you kind of get a feel for how the seat covers attach then just go to town. Hardest part is pulling those copper hog rings..

These are the kits that Shane sells.. not sure where he gets them but they look a lot like the ones I put in the 80 years ago, that I bought from Automotive Seat Heaters for Cars and Trucks from AutoWarm.com.

Anyway I'm most proud of the wiring. My aux. fuse block comes from my 2nd battery, it's grounded to under the truck, both 4ga wire. The seat heaters are wired to a relay that gets its trigger from the center console cig lighter... similar to a headlight harness.

I used trailer wiring to extend the seat heater wires, since they're not long enough for this. the trailer wires will double as an easy disconnect should I ever need to remove the middle row seats. I also ran the wires inside the seats until just before they poke out up by the hinge, put a small slit into the carpet and ran both wires down and across the floor under the carpet. The trailer wire also sits nice and flat and is good for this.. I'm not worried about those wires in the least I figure the odds of someone sitting in the middle are pretty small, and the odds of them having legs long enough to touch the floor are even smaller. Worst case it shorts out and I blow a 10amp fuse... bfd.

The switches are drilled through that pop-out panel at the back of the center console. I kind of banged it up a little on my drill press, so I may have to come up with something better here but for now this is how it is.. and the best part is they work! :bounce:
