Rear Seat Belt Bolt Size

I am mounting a fire extinguisher in the back as was going to use the bolt that used to hold the rear shoulder belt. That existing bolt is a shoulder bolt and I needed one without the shoulder, so I grabbed the old bolt and ran down to the farm store that has a nice bolt selection. But I wasn't able to find a bolt that matched. It looked like a M12 but none of the various thread pitches worked. WTF? So, running out of ideas, I figured I'd try a SAE bolt. It looks like that it isn't metric but is a 7/16-20 bolt? Is that right?

All the seat belt bolts are 7/16-20 in the 80 and almost every other car. I think it is a standard imposed by NHTSA or DOT.

That's what I assumed after I figured it out. That is a pretty custom shoulder bolt with SAE threads but a 14mm head.

Wow, had no idea.. it was kicking my butt earlier this summer! I would have never thought it was SAE... LOL!
