One of mine broke off this weekend. It's right along the bottom of the bumper, so the part that holds the bumper on is still in place. Instead of buying a new one I was thinking about just cutting the other to match. Any reason not to do this?

Yes, in some countrys you are required to have them.
The reason is that they prevent debris from being throwed out behind you onto others.

Rear mudflaps would definitely be useful on colorado roads. I still want to figure a way to mount them on mine.

I like 100s better without them. A much cleaner look IMO. I took mine off and "fabbed" some out of plastic dust pans to keep the bumper cover from flapping in the breeze.

I cut mine early last year. Then, shortly after I put a rock through a GSP Windsheild. Needless to say it was a interesting conversation. I cut mine about 75% of the way and throw a lot of debris with KM-2's. If you do lots of gravel roads and drive through construction zones be courteous and leave them intact.

I still have mine intact in my shop. I just hate to destroy stuff like that- even though I know I will never re-install them. Same reason I have running boards and bling wing laying around my house....just in case...:meh:

My dogs ate mine. And no, I am not kidding.

I keep mine mainly so I don't trash what I'm towing behind me. I've never had a problem with them getting snagged or stuffed when backing over obstacles unlike the fronts on my Tacoma. They lasted about a week before getting ripped off in a timber cutover. Then about a month later the driver side rear was chewed by a teething yellow lab at a customer's house. :hillbilly:

My previous car, Toyota Surf, had one mud flap missing when we towed our KK camper trailer over a muddy track.
The side of the trailer where the mud flap of the car was missing was very, very, very muddy, while the other side was reasonable.
In a nuttshell: they have their function.
