I just had to get my rad re cored, and I've had a few sketchy coolent lines for my rear heater hanging around since I bought my rig, two of them with some 1/2 inch dowel shoved in them to stop from leaking (I know, ewww)

Anyway, I have everything the way I think it should be, I have a T off the line going from the water pump through the fire wall, and the return line is the one going into the manifold side of the motor right around the power steering pump.

I have the two 1/2 inch lines running all the way back to the heater, and I have one short and one long line coming out of the rear heater core itself... My question is which is inlet and which is outlet?

Also does it sound like I have it hooked up right?

Thanks for any help

Eric

Hi Eric, is it a BJ70 with a rear heater? i can send you the EPC pic's of how it should run

Mike

makes no difference... in / out on a heater core that small.
just hook it up which ever is easiest for you to get at...

The EPC picture will tell you everything.

BTW, I use rubber hoses uder the Cruiser to fix all the thing. Rubber will no rust :)

I did use rubber hose, but I tend to wonder why toyota used the hard lines from the factory... is it okay to have 10 feet of 1/2id hose under your truck? How often should I expect to replace these lines?

I also bought 8 feet of 3/4 id hose and cut it to make a rub shield where the hose contacts any of the mounting points... I'm also going to get a couple shut off's and put them on so I can block out the rear heater core incase of a leak, as I can see it being a big problem if they were not in place...

Wayne always glad to hear your input, I was just wondering if you feel the rear head in these trucks is worth it? I know my friend 40 the rear heat is awesome, but this one seem kind of cheezy. Where are the vents?

thanks for the replies

BTW it is all hooked up, now I just have to fill'er up i'll let ya know how that goes...

cheers
Eric

Yes ! Kids and/or wife are very happy with it when they sit on the back ;)

I think it good because it simply keep the truck hot without using the front heater... and it warming up the Cruiser faster !

... then you can put your lunch next by if you want to eat it hot ! :D

i would run the smaller rubber inside a larger rubber all the way due to the air rushing over it at highway speeds will cool the lines quite quickly...

you will like it but really don't need it if the front is working well...that being said for the kids it is nice...

Thanks for the replies guys, it is working and I think I have all the air bubbles out. the list of things to do is a little shorter today...

Thanks a bunch
Eric

how true David, i use that rear heater for keeping Chinese take away food warm, works very well.

it's got me thinking, maybe i could make some kind of slow cooking device for back there on the rear heater.
