Would removing the console rear heater hoses and all push more heat to the primary heater? I'm guessing not but if it does I'll pull the hoses.

Just shut off the valve at the rear heater, then very little coolant goes through it. Mine was by-passed when I got the truck, but that was due to rusted out lines and a crack at the heater core.

Now that I think about it that's what i did when I installed the console.

The front heater should burn you up.With both on in below freezing I cant stand them both on. Mike

My rear heat won't blow hot. But front gets the rig so toasty warm I gotta turn it way down. These things heat great.

Man, I wish I could say that about my wagon!!

That's the case with mine. Problem is that during sub-zero nights like the last two here, if I have it set to outside air it just doesn't have much of a chance to get warm when it passes over the heater core in the front.

Thank God for that rear heater.

1988 FJ62.

My rear heater still blows air but recently stopped blowing hot air. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?
The heater core is probably all corroded up inside- so hot coolant can’t flow through it. No fix.

Depending on the cause of the clog. If it's legit corrosion then you called it. No fix.

If it's scale buildup, a vinegar flush with it removed from the vehicle could clear it out, but I sure wouldn't reinstall it before doing a pressure check to make sure the buildup wasn't preventing it from leaking.
