Rear Hatch Power Lock won't un-lock

My rear hatch will lock with the power lock but will not un-lock...
Has anyone seen this before or know where I should look first??

Try looking at the top right hand corner of the hatch. You will see where the wires come from the body into the tailgate hatch. This area is prone to wire abrasion. Peel back the rubber boot to expose the wires and check if the insulation is abraded or the wires are broken.

If alls well there, check for continuity and voltage at the lock actuator. You should be able to access that via the removable panels on the hatch. You may want to do this first?

I had that problem in mine. It turned out that one of the relays in my rear lock control had a bad internal contact. You can gain access to these relays by pulling the farthest back driverside trim panel in the cargo area (just left of the jack). The relays have a metal case that can be easily removed by twisting the tabs that are passed through the plastic. Once inside the relay I just cleaned all of the contacts squirted in some lube, reassembled by putting the metal caps back on and re twisting the tabs. It now works good as new and my total cost was $nil.
