Rear hatch lock problem -- not the actuator

I was having a problem where my rear hatch would not lock (always unlocked). I assumed it was the actuator, so I replaced the actuator and the problem was not fixed. It still does not lock. When I try to lock using the fob, the lock pin (which you would raise or lower to manually lock/unlock) goes up and down as it should, but the door does not lock.

Anyone had this problem?

I thought about the child lock, but that should just make the inside always locked. I have the opposite problem.

I should mention that all the linkage rods appear to be connected properly and none of the retainers for those is broken. When I try to manually lock using the lock pin, it still does not lock.

Same thing happens on my lx450. Think is missing a plastic pieces. But havent replaced mine. Did you found any solution.
