Hit and run in Chicago. What parts do you think will need to be replaced? I don’t think there is frame damage. 2013 Lexus lx

For sure new rear bumper cover. It’s one piece for the whole rear and side (torn pice in pic). Rear tail gate skin too. Not sure if you need whole lower piece or if it can be reskinned. Looks like damage to inner fender too. That’s harder to replace as it is structurally welded to the body but even if damaged, it might be ok if the new bumper skin can still be installed as it will cover up the inner dents. Looks like a parking sensor is missing too and wire harness may need repair. As a wild guess, I’d say you are looking at $10K to have fixed right at a pro shop. Hopefully you have comp insurance.

It depends if you pay or insurance pays.
If you pay do you want it fixed like new or fixed well?
If insurance or fixed like new, go to a body shop and get an estimate. They going to list the parts and work on it.

If you want it we'll, then... Paint the body damage - no need to fix the metal as it is not a structural damage and noone will see it. Get a new bumper cover, and new sensor if damaged or missing. The new cover will need painting. Sensors & holders come matched but you can also get cheaper ones (price varies a lot with color) and have them repainted at same time as the cover.
Not clear if the sensor harness was damaged or not. Looks OK from the pic.
The tailgate will need some work but nothing a body shop can't fix. The entire panel is to be resprayed for it to look good. There is no need to replace it unless the shop is charging about the same for dent repair as the cost of a new tailgate. But with a new tailgate there is additional cost for install, and glass move over. So you'll need some math.
It is likely you need a new bumper lamp. I do not see it but based on bumper damage I asume it is broken.
Is this power gate? If yes the sensor that goes around the gate got damaged on the dent area. You may be able to bend it back in shape and paint it with black paint if paint is damaged, or buy a new one. Before repairing it test that the electrical part of it functions. If not a new one is needed.
There are a bunch of clips that got damaged.
Not clear what other damage there is as the tailgate is closed in the pics.

Looks like you will need a lower tailgate as well as a rear bumper. I’d get a quote and then possibly do a rear armored bumper. My bumper was replaced prior to my ownership, and the paint match isn’t the best. Since my ownership it’s been hit twice, both times hit and run. Next time I’ll buy armor and fight back from rando hit and runs.

I am glad we were not injured since our kids were in 2nd row.

I will file an insurance claim. FYI. Obtaining police report is the key so it falls under insured motor vehicle portion of the policy. It is not chargeable it doesn’t count against our loss ratio. Another words our insurance will not go up.

We are still able the lx back home.

I will search for body shops in Atlanta. But I am sure blending the paint and matching exactly will be difficult but it is not end of the world.

I wonder if parts will be available. Most body shops have a few months wait.

Sorry to hear.

As someone who also has a Starfire Pearl LX, just remember you’ll need an experienced body shop to match the new bumper and tailgate to the rest of your paint. Starfire is a three-stage paint and white changes a lot over time as is.

paint and matching exactly will be difficult
A good shop will do it. It does not need to be perfect as nothing in this word is perfect. It just needs to be good enough that you eye cannot see it. There are different techniques for doing that including blending and semitransparent paint. But even good old paint tinting by a good pro will make it impossible for your untrained eye to see it.

Not a 100% repair, but if it was me, I'd just do the tailgate and bumper cover and leave the underbody dent alone. Unless you plan to stay in Chicago, then hose it down with POR15 before replacing the bumper cover.

Hit and run with your kids in the car??? Wow, that would Really Piss Me Off, as I'm sure it did you. I'm glad you and your family are uninjured. That's a terrible thing to do to someone.

I was not angry. Glad no one was injured. A protector mental state of mind after being struck

It will suck and be a time drain dealing with body shops.

The other vehicle didn’t even have a tag so dash cam and/or rear dash cam would not have helped. Illinois state trooper didn’t even ask if we had a dash cam.

What did it end up costing?

It was about 11k. Insurance picked it up all of it except deductible. @kcjax was dead on.
