I'm getting the rear hatch and door repainted.
Can the black landcruiser emblem in the middle of the door be replaced?
Or can it be taken off and reattached?

I know it's at least replaceable. Rear ended a year or so ago and the black Landcruiser label was cracked. Body shop put a new one on.

Check with cruiserdan. He'll know.

I asked same in 80 section. Might just leave it off...

If you can get it off without cracking it, you will be doing well.

Is there an alternative to the emblem I can add there? Maybe paint that area a different color? Hmmm...

I was unsuccessful at removing the old emblem in one piece. The old plastic was brittle and began cracking after minimum prying. I decided the liftgate would look naked without it. Ended up buying a replacement--pretty pricy IIRC.

I'm supposed to drop off the 80 in a couple weeks for paint. I think the shop priced a new emblem into the paint price. Still wouldn't mind painting that section a different color though. My 80 is white so maybe black would look good. IMO...

Is this emblem glued on or does it have pins on the back that fit into holes in the lift gate? If its glued try heating it a little and run some floss or fishing line behind it using a sawing action.

Im interested cause my van has some rust around that area and I will have to remove the emblem to fix it.

do not pry on the emblem. heat it up w a heat gun on low on a hair dryer then run fishing line behind it. pops right off w no cracking.

I think the body shop painted around it. Looks good too.

It's on with adhesive. Use fishing line to remove. Do not pry.
