I need rear shoes and am thinking about going with a disc set up I have found the conversion kits but I was wondering if anyone knew what Gm rotors that they used.I have found the calipers pretty cheap and the brackets on maf but I think if I knew what rotors to use i could save some cash, Would front rotors for a 60 work?
If anyone would be able to help that would be great..Thanks

I think it would be cheaper and easier to replace the shoes on the current brakes. They work quite well when properly maintained.

Well I don't know the with of GM calipers .. but maybe you can ask about this measure, with this info you know if function fine or not.

Here, so much people, go with TLC calipers and hi lux ( mini pic up ) disk, or other option are trooper disk ( rear ) also funtion fine.

I agree, if your rear drum brakes are working perfect, they stop great. The problem with rear disc brakes on a 60 is the parking brake. This has been gone over many times before I am sure. It can be easily done, but I there is no kit out for it. You need to use GM Monte Carlo calipers I believe, I dont think the front 60 rotors will work, but I havent seen it attempted either.

They're '79-'85 El Dorado calipers, actually. I'm planning to get TSM's kit at some point shortly after returning home, and have been debating on whether to piece the whole schmear together myself, or just order the kit and all necessary components from them. According to them, their late model 60/62/80 series kit is also compatible with full float axles, which was what made me decide to go with it. Though I think the rotors have to be machined a bit more to fit over the FF hubs (I could be wrong on this. It's just what I remember reading a long way back).

Thanks for the help, I figured that i would not be able to have a parking brake anymore and my rear drums have always worked fine so I guess that just keeping them stock is just the best thing. I will just turn the drums and replace everything then call it good. Thanks again though....
