Dear Friends:

For wear, I have to change the rear differential bearings (with locking device) my toyota Land Cruiser HDJ 100 2000. In my town I do not get the original koyo, someone could give me the equivalents in other brands?

Another query: is it normal for the oil (recently changed) has a light milky color?

Thank you very much.

Greetings.

Never had diff lube come out a "light milky color"...which would indicate significant water contamination; definitely not normal! After a trip where I've crossed axle deep water I like to refresh the diff lube ASAP upon returning home...

I don't have the Timken bearing # but if you have the Koyo # cross reference is easy at any decent parts supplier. You might also consider purchasing a diff rebuild kit that includes all the bearings...not sure what is available to you in Argentina though.

Thank You spressomon.

The problem is that confuses me the following: the Koyo bearing is installed on both sides of the crown rear differential is number 32012J. According catalogs this bearing is 95 mm external diameter, 60 mm inner diameter and a width of 23 mm. But the original bearing this in the differential is 26 mm wide, so it does not match the catalog. Why can this happen? Is likely to Koyo manufactures a special bearing for Toyota, and this is not in the catalogs of the other brands?

Thank you very much.

Greetings.

Like you I checked the Timken interchange but didn't find a direct crossover bearing to the Koyo 32012J. You may need to obtain the Koyo. I would PM a Toyota OEM parts supplier in Argentina...or beno here on MUD (USA). Did you also post on LCOOL?

Should be a Koyo 32012JR-N (Bearing) and 32012J/1B-N (Race). Very possible they differ from the 33012J in width. Timken offering would be a X33012 (bearing) and Y33012 (race). I just measured both, they are both ~26.5mm wide and the Koyo. Those are confirmed fits for the 9.5" locking diffs (cable and e-lock for 60/70/80/100)

Hope that helps.

EDIT: The Timkens are slightly thicker i.e. ~27mm which is too thick to drop into some carriers. I'm working with the manufacture to determine which models this affects and if Timken chas a slightly narrower bearing BUT in the meantime I'd go Koyo.

Cruiseroutfit , thank you very much! It really is a great help. I will seek equivalents timken or Toyo.

Greetings.

See my edit above. Turns out the Timkens may be ~1mm too thick for some installs.

Cruiseroutfit:

Indeed, both bearings (timken & Koyo) are 27 mm thick, so if you want to use also have to change shims.

Koyo's (both Koyo boxed and Toyota boxed) are actually substantially thinner. We have all 3 here and measured them closely. I don't have the exact numbers with me but the Koyo/Toyota were obviously identical, the Timken was thicker.
