Hi.
Could anyone tell me if it's possible to change the rear diff lock acuator to a manual operated one?
The original is utter crap, specially for those of us who aare driving on salted roads occationaly.
A manual operated lock would be better....

And has anyone replaced the rear side windows with steel/aluminium plates?

I think it is possible , like in the old Bj series .
but I don't have any hits on how to do it .
the electric actuator , some times will give problems , mainly from an electric side , then mechanically .

Thanks.
The problem with the acctuator is that it just crumbles apart. The quality and design is terrible.

many have problems with the actuator , they are intact a complicated design .
both electrical and mechanical .
if it was a bit more simple , It would be more reliable .
spare parts are also difficult to reach , and costy .
I know that some chinese have duplicated them , but don't know the quality .
certainly worst then toyota

Have you opened up and cleaned it out? Seal kit is not expensive nor hard to source.

Landcruiser Phil offers a rear window hatch kit that replaces the glass. Not cheap. (there have been other vendors also) I don't know of just a replacement panel kit that does not open.
