I checked my diff and xfer oil this weekend and changed out the xfer and the front differential oil. I didnt change the rear because the level was perfect and the color was like new. The xfer was dark but still looked ok.. but it smelled like toasted nuts. The front was also dark but I was extremely relieved to find no signs of grease contamination or breather problems.
This is the first time I have changed this fluid since I bought the vehicle (with 154k miles). I know you guys are all big fans of baselining your fluids, but if the rear diff looks that good, is it really necessary to change it?
Thanks,
Chris
