Rear Diff Fill Plug

Well, I just got back from the holiday land cruiser adventure. We drove to my parent's place in Maryland and to my sister's place in Pennsylvania. We put about 1500 miles on the clock this time around...just got back last night. The rear shock mount-cross member failed at the frame due to corrosion...I was expecting it but it was holding up well before the trip. I had it welded up at a shop at my parents place. Oh, I also found a great deal on some 33 BFG A/T's.

When I filled up the rear diff before we left, I only got about a quart of old oil out of it. I filled her up with new synthetic and a bunch leaked out on this trip. At least the other side of the cross member isn't in danger of corroding!

I just checked and there is slight play in the pinion bearings, so I need to get this taken care of.

Other than this, the cruiser did great.

sweet, I may do this in the future. For now, the shop just put a piece of pipe around the old one. They cut the pipe axially in half and put it around the broken section and welded it all to the frame...it's all good for now.

Anyone have some contacts in the ohio area that can take a look into my differential issues? I guess I could talk with Jim C. Or maybe I should dive into it myself...gotta get a dial indicator.
