I have decided to replace the rear air springs with coils. I replaced the rear shocks about 3 month ago with oem correct shocks meaning they have the wiring harness that connects to the air system. Can anyone tell if when I convert to the rear coils, will need to buy new shocks or do I just simply unplug the current ones from the harness? Also has anyone used the Dorman rear conversion kit that could give me any input to ride quality? Thanks in advance for any help.

Since the air springs and the electronically controlled dampening on all 4 oem shocks are independent, you should be able to just disconnect the air springs from the harness.

I ran the other way around with the rear air springs connected and functioning, but disabled electronically controlled dampening due to aftermarket front shocks. Rear shocks were oem but disabled automatically due to fronts no longer being electronically controlled. All 4 shocks have to be electronically controlled or it will disable itself when it detects a missing oem shock.

I’m assuming you currently still can select sport, normal, or comfort on your suspension and feel the difference.

The adjustable dampening and air ride are two separate systems.

You can do coil swap and it won’t affect shocks.
