I have a 1985 FJ60 that I bought from my father-in-law in MT and brought back to B'town, Indiana. I pulled the bumpers to have them powder-coated and I noticed that on the rear bumper the end caps "rubbed" up against the body, wearing away the paint down to the sheet metal.

Has anyone else come across this issue and is there a simple/recommend fix to create some space between the end caps and the rear quarter panels. Looking at the frame it does not appear that the truck had been rear-ended and thus the bumpers is pushed farther in than normal.

Thanks,
Chris

That's not normal - I would check the bumper caps to be sure the metal inside them isn't badly rust and forcing them forward, and also check bumper alignment.

You may want to egg out the frame holes, if you need to move the bumper back toward the rear of the truck to create the necessary gap.

Your truck has been around for a while - no way of knowing how things may have gotten tweaked over the years.
