I have a 1998 Land Cruiser and I am having a problem with the rear brakes squealing. its not all the time, it happens just before the car comes to a complete stop. I checked the brake pads and they have plenty of pad left.

Any suggestions......

My 2004 LC has started to do the same ... they squeal the the first few times after I start up. It seems that once they warm up or if I brake moderatly hard ti goes away

my rears were squeeking also, and on close inspection there are small stainless steel clips on the pads to hold them in place. On one of the wheels, the stainless part was rubbing very slightly on the disk causing an infrequent squeek. It was noticeable by a fine line around the disk where the stainless had touched.

found the same on my 2000, pads still had a ton of life left......so I took off the clip

but the brakes on both the LC and LX have been squealin the last few months......to lazy to replace the pads which are still good........so I turn up the radio

My brakes were squealing something horrible front and back with 50% of pad left. I installed the shim kits front $59.00 and rear $32.00 and now i can hear a pin drop!

Are your pds T or aftermarket? I just replaced all of mine with 40% remaining w/ Mr. T pads replacing aftermarket from the PO which help the noise situation but also stopping distance.
