Rear axel/diff housing washer??

I sent my rear diff our for a rebuild and as I was getting everything cleaned up, this was sitting at the bottom near the drain. Is this an internal piece of the gears or center shaft? Thanks everyone!

It's thrust washer which goes behind a spider gear. It's not uncommon for them to fall out when you remove the center shaft. They're a little tricky to install. Grease can help hold them in place. Install the 3rd member 1st.

It goes behind the spider gear inside the carrier, as said, often fall out when cross shaft is removed to pull center block so C clips can be removed.
