Hey all,

I'm putting a new head on my 84 right now and realized that I've got two bent pushrods that need to be replaced. I don't have any replacements right now (and probably can't find 'em on a Sat. night), but I DO have a set of pushrods out of a 2F from a 77 or 78 FJ40. They are noticeably beefier/thicker than the 60's pushrods, but length is the same.

Can these be swapped entirely? Mix and matched? Maybe mix and matched short term? Would this damage my lifters? Etc?

Thanks in advance!

Nick

Won't hurt the lifters.

The issue is the rocker tip.
IIRC, the 84-later rocker ball is smaller diameter, with a correspondingly smaller cup on the top of the pushrod. The early pushrods will work in a pinch, but the correct pushrod should be installed ASAP.

Thanks Jim! I guess I'll put it together with a couple of the old big pushrods....and let it be known, I'm in the market for two of the later skinny ones. :)
