I just got my Bilstien 5125 shocks in and I'm trying to install them. The mounts on my 9/75 FJ40 are to big to fit the metal sleeve and bushing of the shock. Should I just drill the bushing and fit a new sleeve?

I don't want to ruin these awesome new shocks.....please help.

If you remove the sleeve from the bushing will the shock bushing then fit the stud?

They should be somewhat snug on the shock mounting stud.

Steve,

will it hurt the bushing over time if I run them without the metal sleeve? or should I find a piece of tubing that will fit the mounts and drill the bushing so the tube will go in.....does that make sense?

I am not aware of a 40/50/60/80 series Land Cruiser that uses a sleeve to isolate the bushing from the mounting stud.

I would not worry about it.
