Real-time HAMOM prep help needed!

I'm about to shoot my Pig. I'm trying to disassemble a rear drum and for the life of me I can't get the stinking thing apart. The service manual says remove a retaining screw and I don't see anything. I tried the BFH method and nothing.... anyone want to stop by Traveler's Rest today and give some help in exchange for  and steak? Call me. Thanks!

Pop off the adjuster covers and turn the shoe adjusters way in.

If it is like the newer drums there are two 8X1.25mm tapped holes you can thread bolts into on either side. Put some in and go from side to side to move the drum off. This is mostly from experience on 70 series FF rears so......

Best of luck!

hmmm...i tried to turn the shoes way in (looser) but didn't have any success. I'll give this a shot again as the shoes might just be holding everything together.

Thanks Japan 4x4!

You can also take the brake lines off and the 8 bolts holding the brake cylinders off. Only thing that would hold it on is the brake clips which should be replaced anyway with a rebuild.

Call me at the house if you have any questions.

OK - so I just talked w/ Marshall. I think the decision is to order a complete rebuild kit for both rear drums and replace/fix everything at HAMOM. Since I don't know what the heck I'm doing I'll wait 'til the experts arrive.

If you are going to do this then it may be time to switch to rear disks. You are gonna end up payin almost the same amount and you'll have a lot better brake system. Hit up poser for all the parts. The only thing to verify is that the brackets are the same for a 40 and a 55....Poser will know for sure.

Like he said, tighten bolts into tapped holes and whack with rubber mallot. repeat untill loose....disclaimer - this is what it took on my 60 don't know about 55's having the holes.

I'm going to rebuild the drums @ HAMOM. It came down to what parts could I get together in time for HAMOM. Since I don't know brakes I'm going to let Marshall and some other guys work on it so I know its done right.
