Daughter and friend driving back from beach at long red light. Gas gauge moves all the way past full and temperature gauge pegs at the same time. Expect a wire short somewhere - any thoughts...they are on the side of the road till I can get there.....

Don't sweat it.
Crazy guages. Happens all the time. It will go away. Mine does it worse when the tank is full for some reason.

Very common. I have fixed mine twice and it came back both times. Still kinda freaks me out when it happens.
Buying and installing a new fuel gauge is the fix. Less than $40.
