I elected today as air filter/plug change day.

I can get both items at wholesale from the O'reily's near my place. So....

How do the old plugs look? Any danger signs? There's a little bit of white ash type of build up on a couple of them.. Also, are they OE plugs? Denso's? I replaced 'em with Bosch Platinum's. (The ordinary variety, not the dreaded +4's)

I also tested the resistance in the plug wires. Definately time for new ones. I only tested three of them, and the variance was SO large that I didn't even test the last three. I'll just order a new cap/rotor and wires from Dan all at once.

Hey, what is stock timing on the motor? I want to advance it some to gain power and milage..

Doc,

I prefer OEM air filters to aftermarket. They are inexpensive and filter dust and dirt exceptionally well.

Stock timing is 3 degrees BTDC. Here is a link to the procedure.

Don't get too agressive on the timing advance. +3 (6 degrees BTDC) should give you a little boost in off-the-line and a tiny bit more MPG.

As for the plugs, your pics don't show the business end very well. More lighting, closer up, and a better angle please.
