Hate to post yet another vibration thread but wanted to get some other perspectives. I have a vibration only under load between 55-65 mph. No where else. I have changed the trans mount, motor mounts, spark plugs, taken off the engine cover, and messed with the spare tire. Everything has made the ride better but has not done anything to fix this specific issue. My thoughts at this point are to have the tires re-balanced b/c that is the only symptom I have and it is mph specific. What confuses me is that it is only under load. As soon as, I reduce power the vibration goes away.

Look forward to y'alls thoughts.

Cheers

Good thread here - enjoy

Good info! Thanks for directing me there. I forgot that I had also replaced all the u-joints and had the driveshafts re-balanced as well. Could be the CV’s.... but they were replaced a year ago. Might have to take it in and get a professional opinion. :bang:

I’m no pro mechanic but I’ve always heard of issues if you don’t mark your shafts when you replace joints.

I hope that’s not it... that is one of two things that I haven’t done myself on this truck since I got it. That might make me lose my last shred of faith in humanity.

I have the same issue. Are you lifted?

did you put your greases joints into the correct orientation? did you use all of the same color snap rings when replacing, same color snap ring same thinkness

Wheel bearings, needle bearings, and make sure they are at correct preload.

Think about what your feeling from the truck- when & where you feel it: hands, seat, feet, during accel or decel or both etc. Read post #101 of the thread I linked to help you narrow in. Its really not that complicated just a process of elimination.

I have to admit that the first time I saw this chart it felt over my head. After actually digesting it this morning, I have a much better understanding of what could be wrong based on what I have already changed. Or at least a place to start, thanks for that!

Good deal. Also when you had your ujoints replaced- they should have balanced the driveshaft and its customary to paint arrows or match marks on the driveshaft to yoke connection >-< so if you separate the two parts, you know where to line them up when you reassemble. Did that happen?

Don't go too crazy over this issue yet, start simple. Re-balance tires should have been first solution and check for uneven wear. I would think most of the other possible problems would noticeable in other conditions as well.

Is the frame weight still present? Under the passenger side frame rail.

I re-installed mine and it significantly helped my case. My gas pedal foot no longer vibrates/shakes at 55-70.

I had a similar issue, threw a bunch of parts...even had the wheels changed and balanced. Was still paranoid so I got a second balancing, then a third...at the third balancing the shop tech told me one wheel was taking too many weights and was causing a wobbling/vibration. We swapped with the full size spare rim which. Aka fed much easier and it went away.
if available, do a hunter machine/ road force balancing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that did this. I bought my cruiser and chased a vibration on the highway for over a year and baselined everything top to bottom only to find three of the 4 of my BRAND NEW General tires had road force issues that were out fo spec. The initial shop that mounted the tires said everything was perfect and the LC drive like total crap from that point till I had general replace all 4 tires under warranty.
