Thanks for all your responses, Ive readjusted the AFB as far as blocking off the crossovers and readjusted the floats, it seems it wants to die when I put it in gear and go to take off almost as though its flooded. Im hoping its the floats allowing too much fuel in, I will readjust them and keep my fingers crossed.
 
check the accellerator pump...there are 3 holes on there you can adjust it, if it's flooding on accelleration, then take it to the next hole further out.

(most likely in the middle hole now)
 
I think your suggestion did the trick, I will run it longer in daylight tomarrow and see, thanks for your help
 
Are you sure it isn't lean? You have lots of leeway in selecting primary jets and metering rods. Edelbrock publishes selection tables for the Performer carbs, which are AFB clones. You can use that to dial it in. Extra jets and rods are cheap and easy to install.
