Long story there, but I have been into RC since I was about 8 or 9. I have a very rare Tamiya Bruiser, which is basically a true scale Toyota mini truck. Its very similar to the chassis that this guy is using for the 40...metal ladder frame, three speed transmission, solid axles, locked rear, leaf springs....very cool model. I always wanted to make a replica 40, so I bought a pretty scale FJ40 body about 8 years ago to put on it. Until now, I hadn't had the time to work on it. With both full size trucks basically finished, I started looking into ideas to finish my RC 40.
The one of this RC forum is sweet, but you should see the Defender this guy built. Holy crap! Believe it or not, these guys run scale rock crawling events all over the country. They have a mini Moab run in Red Rocks in Colorado that is pretty awesome.

Oh no! Another defender :D (page 9 - rear winch+new seats) - Page 8 - Scale 4x4 R/C Forums

That is really cool. Sounds like you have a new project to complete!

That D90 is almost unbelievable...did you see that video? I tricked my co-workers into thinking that was a real truck.

as did I now back to work.....

I'll have to dig into that insane thread to see if I can lift some ideas. I have one of the Tamiya CR-01 FJ40 crawlers, but I'm currently running it with a cheap FJ Cruiser body. I don't have a picture of mine, but it doesn't look anything like the highly modified scale one... Some of you may have seen it at the Brown Mountain trip and maybe the July meeting. Lots of fun, but a relatively large initial investment.
