Welds. Welds everywhere...

I'm not too worried about the gaps. I can run 6011 in those places and fill them in with weld. Grind it smooth and nobody will no the difference.

2" reciever added. In this picture it's just tacked, but I ran beads all around with 7018.

I have a total of $150 invested in this project. Most of the plate was cut from scrap, and besides an acetylene bottle and some welding rods, this didn't cost me a dime. My little improvised welding shop has paid for itself already. I should be finishing up and painting today.

Okay. So I'm going to hold off painting tonight. I decided to add some square tubing to give my quarter panels some protection, but I don't have what I need. It should be finished by tomorrow.

After tacking up the square tubing and looking at it from different angles, I think I'm going to take about 6" or so off each side to help maintain structural integrity, since I won't be bracing it on the frame. Time to make some cuts!

Welded 1/4" plate to the top of the square tubing. Stitched the inside 6011, and ran a bead all the way down the outside.

I'm not going to take any length off, but I will look into bracing it on the frame, just a little. I don't want to add much weight, and I don't rock crawl anyway.
