Ok, this might be tough, but I'm going nuts. I have two irritating noises:
1) there is a clunk from the right front of the vehicle when I go over a bump. It doesn't even need to be a big bump; driving over the reflectors in the middle of the road at speed will make the clunk. The clunk happens with AND without the shock installed. I jacked up that corner and there is no slop in the wheel, in any direction.
2) when I slow to a stop there is a strange series of rattles from the rear of the truck: every time i stop the little symphony is exactly the same strange pattern. oddly, it does this with the clutch in, and the engine at idle, so its not a rpm-dependant rattle, its speed dependant. It is NOT the tire carrier, as it does it with the tire on or off, and with rubber wedged into the carrier to keep it tight. It is NOT the amby doors, as the weatherstrip is brand new, and I stuck foam inside the doors to quiet the control rods. I wedged rubber around the the exhaust hangers to try and change the noise, as well as put a video camera back there watching the muffler; the exhaust shakes, but not nearly fast enough to rattle as fast as my rattles are. All new shackle bushings. Also not from inside the truck, checked the tire iron, jump seats, etc etc etc. What the hell else is back there?!?!?!?!
