I have a rattle on the right side of the truck that I am having a hard time tracking. The rattle is very loud (when the truck is cold )in the cab when backing out of the driveway in reverse first thing in the AM. It will start making the noise in reverse and is much less noticable in drive. The noise completely goes away once I start moving and is hardly noticable once the truck has been driven (warmed up).

It sounds like somthing rattling up agaist the body of the truck and making the noice loud in the cab. I am thinking it may be part of the exhaust rattling against the body but I have not located it yet. I have noticed this noise since I got the truck but have had other problems that required more attention until now :flipoff2: .

Any ideas?

Thanks

Andrew

I would check the heat shields on your cats first. The only real way to figure it out is to get under the truck while it's making the noice. Jusy make sure the truck is secure before climbing under it.

Ok, thanks. Since it has to be in reverse to do it I make sure my wife is in the truck and not mad at me that day :D .

Yaa definately check the exhaust, cat shields etc....mine has the same problem and it was the connections front and back of the cat. Bolts had completely rusted and two were missing. However the noise did tend to lessen after the rig warmed up and then would only occur at certain speeds. New gaskets new bolts a little elbow grease and wham bam quiet truck. :D

I have this sound too--for me it only happens in reverse when hitting the gas, in the AM, after the car has warmed up. It's really more of a metal-to-metal clangy sounds...a bit disturbing.

If I don't apply the gas and just roll on out of the driveway, then it's no worries. I think that added emphasis with the gas makes it worse.

I am going to check too underneath witht he girlfriend in the cab. She likes me so I don't think I have a worry... :D
