I guess that’s still a 55 but it’s somewhat debatable. My guess is the reserve was $100k or just under and that was a shill bid to try to get someone to go higher. That’s a $70k pig as confirmed by the open market.

Feel free not to answer if you’re not comfortable, but I’m curious how far @J Mack would have gone for this pig? I’m assuming you’ve never seen this pig in person (like the rest of us), so how far would you go? I saw one pic in the listing that gave me small pause, but I’d love to have it my stable. Flip side is it went out my personal price range midway through the auction.
This pig was worth about 50k to me today, I don't need or necessarily want it but I thought it would be fun to build the @Box Rocket pig and this was probably about as good as it gets for a starting point for me. I have a pig with a Cummins engine that IMHO is better in every way than the Beck pig plus I have a few projects going right now and understand another pig project could be heading my way soon that's all preventing me from taking it too serious.
If things were different my max bid would have been in the 70k range, this pig still needs a lot before I would drive it too far and I'm still not convinced it doesn't have a major cooling issue.
He had mentioned he was going to be unable to finish the auction due to outside constraints.
@J Mack thanks for the candid response. We all know custom work isn’t cheap and the worthiness is ultimately very subjective. Obviously, there were a couple people willing to bid higher and I have no idea of their backgrounds. It was interesting to me to hear how high you were willing to go given your history here. Thanks
